Max Alan Childress
Max Alan Childress, age 68 of Morgantown, KY, passed away at his residence on Dunbar Leetown Road on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Born on Saturday, May 18, 1957, in Butler County, Kentucky, Max's journey through life was one marked by dedication, service, and the love of his family.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, Garland E. and Dora C. Niccum Childress, and his half-siblings Everett, Charles Cameron, William Lester, and Raymond D. Childress. His legacy continues through his siblings James Childress (Doloris McKinnney) of Morgantown, KY, Patricia Pendley of Gallatin, TN, and Ramona Fisher (Steve) of Morgantown, KY, as well as his nieces and nephews.
A proud United States Marine Veteran, Max served his country with honor and distinction. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a Retired Electric Power Production Defense Contractor, where his intelligence and work ethic were highly valued. Max was also a member of Sandy Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Max's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was a true jack of all trades, with a particular love for working on the farm. His adventurous spirit led him to become a world traveler, exploring new places and cultures and he also enjoyed fishing.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 12:00pm. Burial will be in the Sandy Creek Cemetery where military rights will be presented by the Ohio County AM VETS, serving as pallbearers will be his family and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
