Mary Martin

Mary Jane Hall Martin, 86, of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab in Morgantown. She was a Basket, Kentucky native, daughter of the late William Mason and Olia T. Howard Hall, and wife of the late Jewel C. Martin. Mary was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by two daughters - Phyllis Cartwright and Iva Nell Martin; three granddaughters - Claira Martin Drake, Tessa Elizabeth Moore and Kimberly Denise Martin; five sisters - Mamie Lee Goodley, Paulina Howard, Margaret Evans, Virginia Olia Hall and Leona Esther Hall; and two brothers - Leonard and William Hall.  Memorial contributions may be to Cool Springs Cemetery Fund at 1255 Cool Springs Road, Morgantown, KY 42261.

Mary Jane Hall Martin is survived by four sons - David Martin and wife Javene of Huntsville, KY; Don Martin of Morgantown, KY;  Jewel Martin Jr. and wife Pam of Central City, KY; and Mike Martin and wife Regina of Morgantown, KY;  six daughters - Alice Martin of Louisville, KY; Peggy Williams of Charlestown, Indiana; Iris Moore of Morgantown, KY; Doris Vissing and husband Bob of Shepherdsville, KY; Gerri Adams of Vidor Texas; and Debbie Guthrie and husband Keith of Medora Indiana; son-in-law Max Cartwright of Bowling Green, KY.; brother Clement Hall “Jinx” of Alexandria Virginia; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; several great great grandchildren  and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Cool Springs General Baptist Church on Thursday December 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Jewel Martin Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Thursday visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until funeral time at the Cool Springs General Baptist Church.

How I have loved Mary Martin!! She was such a strong Christian woman who was so kind and loving to my family. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She touched all of our lives in the most amazing way. Her life was a living testimony to her faith.
So sorry to just hear the news.She was a very nice lady that always made you welcome in her home.
I'm soo Sorry for your loss. Mrs.Martin was a very sweet lady. I worked with her while I was doing clinicals for school. Again I'm sorry and she will be missed.
