Mary Coots Alvey, 85 of Cromwell, Ky. passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, Owensboro, Ky. Mrs. Alvey was born May 31, 1928 in Butler County, to the late Clyde and Loueva Hunt Coots. She was a homemaker and attended Cromwell Methodist Church. She was an avid quilter and Kentucky Wildcat fan and also enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Floyd Phelps and five brothers: Reveil, Oval, Belvin, Hubert and Dalton.

Mrs. Alvey is survived by her husband Dewey Alvey of Cromwell; one son: Danny Phelps and wife Rhonda of Hartford; one daughter: Sheena Romans and husband Michael of Morgantown; five step children; one close step grandson and ten other step grandchildren; one sister: Marzola Sizemore of Wooster, OH.

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, Monday, February 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Darrell Blacklock and Bro. Harold Nix officiating. Burial will follow in the Morgan- Smith Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Monday 8:00 a.m. until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
