Margaret Southerland, 94, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab Center. She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on July 13, 1922 to the late Watterson McKenney and Callie Rone McKenney. She was a Homemaker and a member of Monticello Missionary Baptist Church for 80 plus years. Mrs. Southerland loved quilting, gardening, cooking and fed anyone who stopped by the house. She also had a love for babysitting and had an excellent memory for genealogy. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gobel Franklin Southerland and brother Calvin McKenney.
She is survived by 5 children: Gary Southerland (Anita) of Morgantown, Terry Southerland of Beechcreek, Roger Southerland (Betty) of Morgantown, Joan Smith (Don) of Morgantown, Donna Morris (Rick) of Lexington; 6 grandchildren: Joseph Southerland (Hanna) of Belton, Daniel Southerland(Kristen) of Morgantown, Cheryl Westerfield (Alan) of Beaver Dam, Serena Southerland of Morgantown, Casey Buckley (Stephen) of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Haley Gwathney of Morgantown; 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, November 20th at 2 pm with Bro. Randy Burns officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rochester Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4-8 pm, Sunday, 10 am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home, Morgantown, Ky.
