Loretta Howard Cardwell, 98, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green.  She was born in Butler County on December 14, 1919 to the late Charles and Mittie Daugherty Howard.  Loretta was a homemaker, loved to cook, sew, and work puzzles.  She was a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband  Rev. James Hope Cardwell; son Maurice Cardwell; three grandchildren; two brothers Raymond and Shafter Howard.

 Loretta is survived by five sons Howard Cardwell (Sue) of Central City, Ky., Jimmy Cardwell (Bulena) of Baizetown, Ky., David Cardwell( Nancy) of Laredo Tx., Tommy Cardwell (Karen) of Morgantown,  Philip Cardwell (Teresa) of Bowling Green;  daughter in law Anita Cardwell of Morgantown;  13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

 Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, December 12 at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Gerald Geary Officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt Vernon Cemetery.   Visitation will be on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 5pm-8pm and Wednesday 8am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
