Lonis "Myrl" Coleman Burden

Lonis “Myrl” Coleman Burden, age 90, of Morgantown, Ky., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, In. She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on Feb. 14, 1931 to the late Estill and Maudie Cardwell Coleman.  She taught school after attending Western Kentucky University for 2 years. Myrl worked at GE, was a homemaker, and then a cook at Butler Co. High School. Myrl was a member of Barnett’s Lick Baptist Church for more than 70 years. She was a member of the Banock Chapter of the Eastern Star.  She loved shopping and canning.  She also enjoyed watching As the World Turns and  The Price is Right.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy Burden; brothers David and Glendel Coleman; sister-in-law Doris Coleman.

She is survived by two daughters Jackie Thomas of Mount Vernon, In. and Melinda Peay (Steve) of Morgantown; grandchildren Hanna Southerland (Joe) of Belton, Lesley Thomas of Mount Vernon, In., Haleigh Sanderson (Matt) of Chattanooga, Tn. and Hunter Peay of Morgantown; great grandchildren Evan and Will Southerland of Belton; two brothers Denzil Coleman (Christine) of Morgantown and Mac Coleman (Janette) of Morgantown; sisters-in-law Barbara Coleman of Morgantown and Lora Woodrum (Jimmy) of Bowling Green; special caregivers Angie and Tony Embry and Brenda Smith.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Darryl Dockery officiating.  Burial will follow in the Snodgrass Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 28 from 3:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
