Lemmie D. Coots

Lemmie D. Coots, 80, passed away on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at The Ohio County Hospital. He was born on May 3, 1936, in Butler County. 

Lemmie served his country in the U.S. Air Force, working with SAC on B-47’s.  He was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church, was a heavy equipment mechanic with Whayne Supply, Sandefur’s Excuvating and Peabody Coal Company.  He loved his family, UK Basketball, quail hunting and had a great sense of humor.  He was a member of Beaver Dam Masonic Lodge #420, and Kentucky Chapter of Campers On Mission.

Survivors include his wife, Lu Stenberg Coots; son, Mark (Robin) Coots; daughter, Angie Coots (Charlie) Patton; grandchildren, Aaron (Elizabeth) Coots, Kortni (Jamey) Mattingly, Chad (Sarah) Coots, Stephen Patton and Alex Patton; great-grandchildren, Dayne, Haley, Sawyer, Harley, Breylen and Kirk; brother, Larry H. (Martha) Coots; sister-in-law, Dorotha Sandefur Coots, and several nieces and nephews.

Lemmie was preceded in death by his parents, Harlet E. and Effie Pearl Moore Coots, and his brother, Jerry L. Coots.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, at New Harmony Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church.

Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam are in charge of arrangements.

The family request that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Ohio County.  Envelopes will be available at the church.
