Lelan Ray Johnson, 88 of Rochester, Ky. passed away Monday, April 25, 2016, at his residence. Lelan was born on Friday, August 19, 1927, in Butler County Kentucky to the late Will and Bivie Sumner Johnson and husband of the late Evia Johnson. He was a World War II Army Veteran and attended Riverside Missionary Baptist Church. A retired coal miner and a avid hunter and fisherman. Other than his parents and first wife he is preceded in death by two granddaughters Samatha Johnson and Amanda Johnson and several brothers and sisters.
Lelan Ray Johnson is survived by his loving wife of 14 years Ruby Suddath Johnson of Rochester, Ky.; two daughters Shirley Irene Grundy and husband Thurman of Central City, Ky. and Kathy Hardin of Kuttawa, Ky.; five sons Danny Johnson of Kuttawa, Ky., Stan Johnson and wife Sherry of Morgantown, Ky., David Johnson and wife Sally of Beaver Dam, Ky., Vernon Johnson and wife Ellen of Morgantown, Ky. and Eric Johnson Kuttawa, Ky.; two step daughters Reda Casebier and husband Scott of Beechmont, Ky., Melva Pendley and husband Leonard of Beechmont, Ky.; two step sons Alton Gaines and wife Lisa of Beechmont, Ky. and Rodney Gaines of Rochester, Ky.; 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren; one brother Bobby Johnson of Gilbertsville, Ky. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Friday, April 29, 2016 at 1:00pm with Bro. Ron Noffsinger officiating.

Burial will be in the Forest Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 3:00pm - 8:00pm and Friday 8:00am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel. Please share any photos, memories, condolences or light a candle in memory of Lelan at www.jonesfuneralchapel.com
