Larry Thomas Lawrence
Larry Thomas Lawrence, age 85 of Provo, KY, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Born on Monday, November 27, 1939, in the Sugar Grove community of Butler County, Larry's life was a testament to his enduring strength, love for his family, and his community.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert N. and Edith Preston Hayes Lawrence, his first wife, Eva Sue Lawrence, his son Todd Lawrence, and his brother Stanley Lawrence. His legacy continues through his loving wife of 29 years, Pat Lawrence of Provo, KY, whom he married on July 27, 1996. He is also survived by his son Tom Lawrence of Bowling Green, KY; son Ricky Romans (Kay) of Morgantown, KY; daughter Dana Phelps (Billy) of Morgantown, KY; and daughter Kim Otto (Kurt) of Bowling Green, KY.
Larry's life was enriched by his grandchildren: Chase Lawrence (Ariel) of Bowling Green, KY; Allie Lee (Trent) of Morgantown, KY; Hillary Abbott (Sinclair) of Bowling Green, KY, Brandon Bond of Auburn, KY, Mitch Bond (Lindsey) of Auburn, KY, Jorden Phelps (Brittany) of Morgantown, KY, Dakota Phelps (Kate) of Wilmington, NC, Jackson Otto and Olivia Otto both of Bowling Green, KY . His great-grandchildren Ambree, Willow, and Maizie Lawrence, Della, and Ivy Lee, Cooper Dickerson, Jack Abbott, Trevin Bond, Hendrix Bond, Stevie Bond, and August and Lennon Phelps brought him immense joy, along with several nieces and nephews.
A proud United States Navy Veteran, Larry dedicated many years of service to his country and he retired from the General Motors Corvette Plant in Bowling Green, KY. Larry was a member of the Monticello Missionary Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the United Auto Workers (UAW). Larry was a past president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union, lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and an active participant in the Provo Fish Club.
Larry's interests were simple yet profound. He enjoyed fishing, but above all, Larry cherished spending time with his family, creating memories that would last for generations.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 12:00pm with Bro. Randy Burns officiating. Burial will be in the New Liberty Cemetery in Windyville, KY were Jackson Otto, Chase Lawrence, Mitch Bond, Jorden Phelps, Brandon Bond, Trent Lee and Tommy Brosnan will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm and Wednesday 8:00am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
