Lanny Ray Mitchell, 57 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at his residence. Lanny was born March 20, 1955 in Greenville, Kentucky to the late Olis Mitchell and Ona Bell Abbott Mitchell who survives. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, industrial drywall hanger and deckhand on barges. She was preceded in death by one sister Wanda Jean Slaughter; brother in- law Elvis Slaughter and 2 nephews Brian and Terry Slaughter.
Lanny Ray Mitchell is survived by one son Roger Barks (Missy) of Caneyville, Ky.; mother Ona Bell Abbott Mitchell of Quality, Ky.; 5 grandchildren; sisters Susie Slaughter (Thurman) of Scottsville, Ky. and Betty Kirby (Neal) of Quality, Ky.; brother Danny Wayne Mitchell (Shirley) of Morgantown, Ky. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at 1:00pm with Bro. Chris Rippy officiating. Burial will be in the Sandy Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday, November 26, 2012, from 2:00pm - 8:00pm and Tuesday from 8:00am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.Online condolences may be made at www.jonesfuneralchapel.com
