Kathern Sue "Kathy" Fleming

Kathern Sue "Kathy" Fleming, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence in Butler County, KY, on October 23, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on August 23, 1955, in Greenville, KY, Kathy was a beacon of love and care throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

Kathy's journey began as the beloved daughter of Woodson and Brooksie Wells Laster. She grew up surrounded by a large and loving family, including her four siblings, Mary Evelyn, Judy Alexander, Betty Olson, and Curtis Laster, who preceded her in death. Her life was further enriched by her nine surviving siblings, Desma "Tottie" Burt, Bud Laster, Drexel Laster, Ronald Laster, Donna Weaver, Jeffrey Laster, Phillip Laster, Carolyn Settle, and Sherell Settle, along with several adoring nieces and nephews.

On December 11, 1975, Kathy's heart found its match when she married, Jimmy "Poppa" Fleming. Their love story spanned 48 beautiful years, during which they built a family. Kathy's legacy lives on through her devoted children, Julie Britt (Dan) of Auburn, KY, and Brittany Williams (Kevin) of Mt Washington, KY. She was a proud and doting grandmother to three grandchildren, Wade Britt, Stetson Williams, and Blayton "Billy Goat" Williams.

Kathy's passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in nursing. After graduating with a Nursing Degree from Western Kentucky University, she dedicated over 40 years to the profession as a registered nurse.Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Kathy attended and was baptized at Carter Creek Baptist Church in Greenville, KY. Beyond her professional and spiritual commitments, Kathy had a zest for life that was evident in her hobbies. She had a keen eye for antiquing and junking, always on the lookout for unique finds at estate auctions. Kathy was also a culinary enthusiast, known for her delicious cooking and the warmth she brought to every family gathering.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10:00am with Bro. Gene Vincent officiating. Burial will be in the Mt Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 3:00pm - 8:00pm and Saturday 8:00am until funeral time at 10:00am at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
