Joyce Flener Mauzy, age 85, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center.  She was born in Butler County, Kentucky on November 5, 1937.  Parents were Shirley Jake Flener and Marguerite Cox Flener. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Charles Monroe Mauzy and children Shelia Marie Jones (infant), Gregory Lewis Jones, and James Gregory Mauzy.

She retired in 1999 after 40 years in banking. She was a longtime member of Morgantown United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking and serving with the United Methodist women. She is survived by a step-daughter, Rhonda Ann Hitchel (Joe) of Bowling Green, Kentucky and a step-son, Charles Paul Mauzy (Anne) of Louisville, Kentucky. Grandchildren are Lindsey Travis, Kathryn Ann Broce (Matt), and Dylan Hawkins of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Christian Lewis Mauzy (Andi) of Louisville, Kentucky, Great grandsons Trip Waters and Jett Broce, and Levi and Lucas Mauzy and great granddaughters, Lilly and Layla Travis.

She also is survived by her sisters Faye Dalton (Johnny) and Della Henderson (Troy) of Morgantown, Kentucky and Joei Day Brown of Evansville, Indiana, along with their families.  Her family would like to thank the wonderful and dedicated staff at Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center for their care of her in the final months of her life.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023 at 1pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Wallace officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hill Haven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 11am until 1pm at Smith Funeral Home.
