Johnny Ray Adams
Johnny Ray Adams, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. Born on December 3, 1961, in Butler County, KY, Johnny's life was a testament to the strength and love that he carried with him throughout his 64 years.
Johnny was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. His work as a Concrete Finisher showcased not only his skill but also his dedication to craftsmanship.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond A. Phelps; his sister, Connie Sims; his granny, Clemintine Clark; and his aunt, Janette Coleman.
Johnny's legacy is carried on by his loving wife of 42 years, Connie Russ Adams, of Morgantown, KY, his children, Shannon Johnson (Chris) and John Robert Adams, both of Morgantown, KY, his grandchildren, Heaven Johnson, Layla Adams, Waylon Johnson, Ryleigh Adams, and Jase Johannson, all of Morgantown, KY. He is also survived by his mother, Juanita Marvel of Morgantown, KY; his brother, Tony Adams of Flagstaff, AZ; and his sister, Sharon Persinger of Morgantown, KY.
Johnny's interests were a mirror to his character. An avid enthusiast of guns and trucks, he found joy in working on trucks, a hobby that allowed him to express his analytical and problem-solving skills. His love for fishing with his grandson was more than a pastime; it was a cherished opportunity.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel, Friday, January 23, 2026 at 12:00pm with Bro. Raleigh Blancett officiating. Burial will be held Adams Family Cemetery where Tony Adams, Chris Johannson, Johnny Williams, Adam Johnson, Derek Gidcumb, J.R. Adams and Waylon Johnson will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm and Friday 8:00am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
