John Coeburn “J.C.” Smith

John Coeburn “J.C.” Smith, 66 of McHenry, Kentucky passed away on February 27, 2019 at his home surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on January 11, 1953 in Harlan, Kentucky to the late John and Bessie Cavins Smith. J.C. worked at Nestaway for 25 years and went on to retire in 2008 from his construction business.

J.C. attended Echols Church of God, he enjoyed the outdoors, riding the back roads, hunting and fishing. He loved his family and cherished spending time with them. He was blessed with great friends and never met a stranger. J.C. was a genuine person with a heart of gold, always making others laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. He helped so many people throughout his life and would always help anyone in need. He impacted so many lives and was loved by everyone who was blessed to know him.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Daugherty; one brother, Frankie Smith; two nieces, Andrea Daugherty and Chastity Farris and one granddaughter, Destiny Faith Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Judy Smith of McHenry; two sons, Robbie Smith of McHenry and John Paul (Brittany) Smith of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Stacy (Robby) Johnson of Beaver Dam; two granddaughters, Natalie Smith and Haley Johnson and four grandsons, Kennan Johnson, Dakota Smith, Ethan Smith and Coltyn Smith; four sisters, Sue (Bill) Middleton, Sara Farris, Beatrice (Roy) Farris and Mary (Scotty) McLain and one brother, Tom Smith. Several beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends also survive.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Echols Daystar Church of God, 5508 State Route 1245, Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Lealin Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Echols Cemetery. Friends may visit with J.C.’s family from 4-8 P.M. Friday at William L. Danks Funeral Home and from 10 A.M. until the time of the service Saturday at Echols Daystar Church of God.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to Hospice of Ohio County, 1211 Main Street, Hartford, KY 42347. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
