Joe Layton

Joe Layton  79, of Hartford, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at his daughter’s home in Livermore.  Joseph Phillip Layton was born January 23, 1938, in Calhoun, Kentucky to the late Leslie H. and Irene Taylor Layton, was married to the former Willodean “Dean” Kirkendoll until her death June 2, 1986, and was later married to the former Monita Gale Embry until her death January 17, 2017.  Joe was a farmer, retired from the Green River Treatment Center in Cromwell, was a member of Big Muddy Baptist Church in Dunbar, and was earlier a member of Glenville Baptist Church.  He loved University of Kentucky Basketball, gardening, raising cattle, and barbequing for his family and friends.  In addition to his parents and wives, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, Dickie Layton and a sister, Karen Morehead.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Barry and Melissa Layton of Brentwood, Tennessee; a daughter and her husband, Stacy and Tommy Patrick of Livermore; two step sons, Phillip Dockery of New York, New York and Kit Dockery and wife, Robyn of Chickamauga, Georgia; two step daughters and their husbands, April and Tom West of Hermitage, Tennessee and Sarah and Bobby McKee of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Paige Chandler and husband, Artie, Will Layton, Katlyn Patrick, and Olivia Layton; 9 step grandchildren; a brother, Don Layton of Newburgh; and two sisters, Ida Stringer of Owensboro and Lola Morehead of Evansville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Revs. Ronnie Forrest and Charles Thomas officiating.  Burial will be in the Glenville Baptist Cemetery in Daviess County.  Friends may visit with Joe’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Musters in Livermore.
