Joe Anderson Forsythe

Joe Anderson Forsythe, 97 of Morgantown, Kentucky passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Central Utah Veterans Home in Payson, Utah. Joe was born on Saturday, November 16, 1918 in Quality, Kentucky to the late Shelby Clay Sr. and Ersye Anderson Forsythe. He was married to the late Eva Iris Smith Forsythe. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, serving as a master carpenter's mate on the naval ship USS Uranus deployed to the south Pacific.  He was a member of Morgantown First Baptist Church.  He retired as a supervisor for WRECC. He and his wife, Eva, opened a skating rink together in the late 50's behind the former Flener's Restaurant and Hotel. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, two grandsons, Matthew Burgi and Stan Roberts, three brothers Royce, Lanyce and Shelby Clay Forsythe Jr. and one sister Marjorie Forsythe Martin.

He survived by his two daughters, Sheilia Roberts and husband Joe Van of Beaver Dam, Ky. and Darlene Burgi of Orem, Utah;  8 grandsons Van, Mark and David Roberts, Steve, Scott, Richard, Paul and Beau Burgi, 1 granddaughter Tina Burgi Smith, and 32  great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 12:00pm with Bro. Greg Wallace officiating.

Burial will be in the Dan Johnson Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 8, 2016 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm and Saturday 9:00am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
