Jimmie Ray McKinney, age 82 of Morgantown, KY, passed away Friday, the 15th day of December, 2023 at his residence surrounded by family after his long battle with leukemia. Jimmie was born Friday, the 2nd day of May, 1941 in Salem, IL to the union of the late Ellie Buel and Bernice Haynes McKinney. Jimmie was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN and attended Woodbury Missionary Baptist Church. He worked at and retired from the Dollar General Store in Morgantown, KY for over 20 years. Jimmie also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters; Myrtle McKinney, Georgie Minton, and Loriene Dennis.

Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis McKinney, of Morgantown, KY, one daughter, Debbie Benson of Rochester, KY, one granddaughter, Jamie Saunders Smith (David) of Morgantown, KY, three great-granddaughters; Jasmine Gwathney, Sierra Saunders and Hannah Saunders, one brother, Reathel McKinney (Barbara) of Morgantown, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, the 19th day of December, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mark Alford officiating. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery with Robert Jones, Bobby Lindsey, David Smith and Donald McDaniel serving as Pallbearers. Visitation will be held Tuesday, the 19th day of December, 2023 from 9:30 AM until funeral time at 1:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
