Jerry "Shorty" Tomes, 52 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at his residence. Jerry was born September 14, 1962 in Butler County Kentucky to the late Glen Ray Tomes and Bonnie Embry Tomes who survives. He was a coal miner for Armstrong Coal Co. Jerry is preceded in death by one brother Gary Lynn Tomes; two nieces Melody Henderson and Natasha Denise Goodall and one uncle Denzil Embry.
Jerry "Shorty" Tomes is survived by one daughter Brittany Deweese husband Denny of Morgantown, Ky.; one son Nick Tomes fiancé Shannon of Owensboro, Ky.; mother Bonnie Tomes of Morgantown, Ky.; one granddaughter Catherine Grace Deweese of Morgantown, Ky.; four grandsons Trever Reed Deweese of Morgantown, Ky., Brody Crawford of Owensboro, Ky., Luke Crawford of Owensboro, Ky. and Zachary Tomes of Owensboro, Ky.; two sisters Beverly Henderson husband Roger of Morgantown, Ky. and Teresa Goodall husband Jay of Morgantown, Ky.; one brother Barry Tomes wife Sandy of Morgantown, Ky. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11:00am with Bro. Randall Deweese officiating. Burial will be in the Christian Home Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm and Friday 8:00am until funeral time at 11:00am at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
