James Monroe "Jimmie" Cardwell

James Monroe "Jimmie" Cardwell, age 80, of Baizetown, KY, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Ohio County Hospital in Hartford, KY. Jimmie was born on Saturday, December 19, 1942, in Butler County, KY, to the union of the late Rev. James and Loretta Howard Cardwell. He was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and Trustee. Jimmie retired from Nestaway in Beaver Dam, KY; he enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Maurice Cardwell.

James Monroe "Jimmie" Cardwell is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bulena Smith Cardwell of Baizetown, KY; one daughter Dwaynetta Coleman (Mike) of Morgantown, KY; one son Brian Cardwell (Sandra) of Baizetown, KY; three grandchildren Jaysen Cardwell (Jessica) of Baizetown, KY, Codey Cardwell (Savannah) of Baizetown, KY and Hollie Smith (Skyler) of Bowling Green, KY; four great-grandchildren Cadence Cardwell, Zoey Cardwell, Rhealynn Cardwell and Reagan Cardwell all of Baizetown, KY; four brothers Howard Cardwell (Sue) of Central City, KY, David Cardwell (Nancy) of Laredo, Texas, Tommy Cardwell (Karen) of Morgantown, KY and Philip Cardwel (Teresa) of Beaver Dam, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 6990 Hwy 505 South Baizetown, KY 42349, on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 2:00 pm with Bro Greg Fields officiating. Burial will be in the Creek Cemetery, where Brian, Jaysen, Codey, Chad Cardwell, Jackson Groves, and Mike Coleman will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 9:00 am until funeral time at 2:00 pm.
