James L. Martin

James L. Martin, 74, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. He was born in Williamsburg, Ky. on February 17, 1945 to the late Leonard Tobe Martin and Norma Jones Scheer. James was a U.S. Army Ranger, Green Beret and member of the Special Forces with the 101st Airborne Division and the 82nd Airborne Division and served in Vietnam. He was a member of North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, Fl. and he loved to golf. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Christopher House.

James is survived by his wife Joyce Martin of Leesburg, Fl.; two daughters Robin House (Robert) of Morgantown and Kris Layton (Brad) of Fenton, Mo; two sons Michael Todd Martin of Morgantown, Jeffery Martin (Abi) of Dallas Tx.; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; brothers Andy Martin (Betty) of Orange Park Fl. and Roger Martin (Janice) of Louisville.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 6:30pm at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be held on Friday, June 7 at 9 am in the Veterans Cemetery in Hopkinsville, Ky. Visitation will begin on Thursday, June 6 from 3pm until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
