James "Jimmy" Vernon Coots

James "Jimmy" Vernon Coots, 68, of  Bowling Green, Ky., passed away Saturday evening, April 16, 2016 at his residence from complications with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on July 12, 1947 to the late Oakley and Ruby Flener Coots. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church, Tres Dias and the Simpson Co. Vietnam Veteran's Group, a Sergeant having served in the US Army with one tour in Vietnam.  He was a gracious, loving, mighty man of God, who loved his family and served his country.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Dorothy Flener.

Mr. Coots is survived by his wife Victoria Coots of Bowling Green KY; three daughters Charlotte Renee Snell of Sierra Vista, AZ; Nicole Sperle and Rick of Sierra Vista, AZ; Jamie Snell of Shelton, WA; two sons Thomas Jay Coots and Jaynei of Virginia Beach, VA; Joshua Oakley Coots and Aki of Lexington, Ky; grandchildren Keegan Lee Snell, Kelsea Maria Tenney, Phaydra Saree Adams, Andrew Dean Sperle, Sedona Vaye Snell, Jackson Thomas Coots, and Harvey Jay Coots. 6 brothers, Leon Coots and Joyce, Cammie Coots and Ervil, John Coots and Sharon, William Coots and Norma, Jerry Coots and Donna, Victor Coots and Joann, and 7 sisters, Katheryn Politano, Chris Davis and Gerald, Gwen Lee, Jean Leake, Kay Dwyer and Buddy, Barbara Willoughby and Larry, Marsha Flewallen and Ken, many Nieces, Nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: Aberdeen Missionary Baptist Church, Morgantown, KY: Friday, April 22: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. & 5 p.m.-8 p.m.
Funeral Service: Aberdeen Missionary Baptist Church, Morgantown, KY: Saturday, April 23: 11 a.m., with visitation from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
Burial: Aberdeen Missionary Baptist Church cemetery: Following funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, all donations received to Smith Funeral Home will be forwarded to Tres Dias in memory of Jimmy Coots.
