James Eddie Costello

James “Eddie” Costello, age 60, of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away on April 3, 2026, at his residence. He was born on July 27, 1965, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Eddie was a loving, kind, and wise man who touched the lives of many through his steady presence and generous heart. He spent many years working as a truck driver, Those who knew him best appreciated his dependable nature and the calm, thoughtful way he approached life. 

In his free time, Eddie enjoyed reading, watching television, riding motorcycles, and guns, interests that brought him comfort and enjoyment throughout his life. He appreciated simple pleasures and found happiness in the things that gave him peace and connection.

 

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Erdist Wayne Costello and Vida Mae Adkins Dodson, his wife, Shelly Ilene Embry Costello, and one brother, William Costello. He is survived by his children, James Costello of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Travis Costello and his wife Amanda of Morgantown, Kentucky, Dylan Chapman of Scottsville, Kentucky, Sara Henderson and her husband Robert of Morgantown, Kentucky, and Brandy Little and her husband Jeremy of Nashville, Tennessee. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Bentlee, James, Alexia, Kelsie, Jordan, Payton, and Ryman, who brought him great joy and pride. Eddie is also survived by his sisters, Lori Clark of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, and Vonda Turner of Morgantown, Kentucky, his stepfather, Mike Dodson of Morgantown, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 1:00pm with Bro Raleigh Blancett officiating. Burial will be in the Brooklyn Cemetery where his family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 10:00am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
