Jacob “Jake” Ward Hampton

Jacob “Jake” Ward Hampton, 32, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020 in Warren Co.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky., on April 18, 1987.   He was an entrepreneur of many trades and owner of Hampton Motor Sales. He lived and breathed to race with his race family, the 403 Mafia and J.H.R.  He loved to hunt, fish and drink beer. Jake loved UK basketball and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was his mother’s heart and soul. He was preceded in death by great grandmother Elizabeth Ward; grandmother Edra Dean Ward Hampton; grandfather Pappy Donald Ray Carter and uncle Timmy “Hollywood” Carter.

Jacob is survived by his parents Kevin and Julie Hampton of Morgantown; his grandfather Bobby Hampton of Morgantown; grandmother Joann Keown Carter of Morgantown; uncle Donnie Carter of Morgantown; uncle Greg Hampton of Morgantown; cousin Bo West (Meredith) of Morgantown; wife, crew chief, and biggest fan Ashley Ayers of Woodbury; his “son” dog Gunner; racing family Jacob Legge, Luke Thomas, Brian Neighbors, Josh Moss, Johnny Lee and Jacob Whittinghill.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 20 at 2pm at Smith Funeral Home with Tim Flener officiating.  Visitation will be on Sunday, January 19 from 4-8 p.m. and Monday 10 a.m. until time of funeral.

In honor of Jake a Cruise Around Morgantown will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club.
