Jackie Truman Vaughn

Jackie Truman Vaughn, age 85 of Huntsville, KY passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at his daughter's residence in Morgantown, KY. Jackie was born on Sunday, October 25, 1936 in Huntsville, KY to the late Orville and Thelma Porter Vaughn. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving in active duty for 4 years and remained in the reserves until 1962. Jackie fell in love at first sight when he saw a beautiful blonde in a red car and went on to elope with Nancy Jean Minton in Springfield, Illinois on July 18, 1959. He worked in the coal mines, oil fields, rock quarry and finally found his niche when he and a friend opened a gas station in Morgantown. His fondness of helping people shined through and he expanded and moved to Aberdeen and opened Vaughn's Shell Truck Stop, Wrecker Service, Garage, Restaurant and Trucking. In his retirement he continued his passion of connecting with people and spent the last 20 years with his grandsons at Green River Equipment Leasing and Kysen Trucking. Jackie was a kind, caring man who loved all of his puppies over the years, living on his farm, caring for his cattle, growing his garden and providing mountains of fresh vegetables for all, spending time with his family and was always ready to help a friend. Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by two son in laws Stevie Dockery and Mack Gabbard; one grandson Adam Gabbard and one sister Elfreda Dalton. He is best remembered by the Yates quote: "There are no strangers here. Only friends you haven't met yet."

Jackie Truman Vaughn is survived by his daughter Vicki Blancett and her husband Larry of Roanoke Texas, son Michael Vaughn and wife Rhonda of Morgantown, daughters, Lesa Gabbard of Morgantown and Pauline Dockery of Morgantown. Grandchildren, Andrew Gabbard (Misty), Dee Blancett, Michelle Taylor (C.W.), Matthew Blancett, Ashley Runion (James), Cody Dockery, Jacob Gabbard (Casey) and Chase Dockery; Great-Grandchildren, Skyler Bennett (Ty), Garrison Odle, Kyleigh Overstreet, Caleb Gabbard, Kasen Gabbard, Kipton Gabbard, Mollie Jean Taylor, Ben Runion, Carolyn Blancett and Gideon & Annabell Blancett. Brother, Dwight (Phyllis) Vaughn, Sister Penny Neal and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11:00am with Bro. Raleigh Blancett and Speaker Donnie West officiating. Burial will be held in the Huntsville Baptist Church Cemetery where military rights will be observed by Ohio County AM VETS Post 117. Serving as pallbearers Jacob Gabbard, Andrew Gabbard, Cody Dockery, CW Taylor, James Runion and Garrison Odle. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm and Saturday 8:00am until funeral time at 11:00am at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
