Jackie Lee Blanton

Jackie Lee Blanton, known affectionately as Jack, passed away peacefully at his residence in Morgantown, Kentucky, on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on Tuesday, August 18, 1936, in Newport, Indiana, to Ernest and Margaret Eastwood Blanton, Jack's life was a testament to the values of love, hard work, and courage.

Jack's early years laid a strong foundation for a life full of diverse interests and accomplishments. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of duty and honor that he carried throughout his days. After his military service, Jack returned to his roots and became a respected member of his community as a dedicated farmer. His love for the land was evident in the care he took of his land and the joy he found in working the earth.

A man of faith, Jack was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His commitment to his beliefs was unwavering, and he found great solace and strength in his spiritual life. Jack's community involvement extended to his membership in the Elks Lodge.

Jack's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He enjoyed wood carving, creating intricate pieces that were both beautiful and functional. His love for the outdoors was also expressed through sailing and motorcycling, activities that brought him great joy and a sense of freedom. Jack's musical talents were showcased when he played the harmonica.

One of Jack's most cherished achievements was obtaining his pilot license. The skies offered him a world of adventure and perspective that he eagerly embraced. Whether he was tending to his garden or flying high above the clouds, Jack approached every endeavor with enthusiasm and skill.

Jack's legacy is carried on by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margaret Eastwood Blanton; his son, Danny Blanton; his first wife, Margaret Hayes Blanton; five sisters; and three brothers. He leaves behind his beloved wife of thirty-two years, Barbara Ann Barrett Blanton, with whom he shared a life of love and partnership since their marriage on July 4, 1992.

He is also survived by his son, Timothy Gregg Blanton of Morgantown, KY; his daughter, Lillian Kay Hayes Varley of Branson, MO; grandsons, Daniel Lee Blanton of North Dakota and Ryan Gregg Blanton of Grand Junction, CO; stepchildren, Nick Noble (Tam) of Bowling Green, KY, Nate Noble (Denise) of Morgantown, KY, and Beth Lanham (Derek) of Bowling Green, KY; seven step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Jack was a man who could be best described as loving, handy, and courageous. His ability to fix anything, his readiness to lend a helping hand, and his bravery in facing life's challenges were qualities that endeared him to all who knew him. Jack's life was a beautiful mosaic of service, adventure, and love-a life well-lived and well-loved.
