Hugh Wallace McCoy

Hugh Wallace McCoy, 87, of Bowling Green passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023 at his residence. He was a native of Butler Co. and was born August 26, 1936. Wallace was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ann Chinn McCoy, his parents Mathie McCoy and Stella (Thompson) McCoy, his sisters Nada Hardcastle, Bernice Decker, Mavis Kitchens, Anna Lou Flowers and Sue Porter, his brothers Edwin McCoy and Curtis T. McCoy.

In 1962 Wallace was the Chief Engineer that flipped the switch to bring WLTV (Currently WBKO) to Bowling Green. He worked for WBKO for 18 years. Then he worked at Desa International until he retired in 2007. He created several electronic designs that have been patented. Wallace was a devoted follower of Christ and loved to sing worship songs and was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church in Beaver Dam, KY. His faith led him to write several Christian songs and HE enjoyed singing with a quartet around this community. He was a loving and caring Father that enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved life and also enjoyed staying in touch with family and friends in person and on Facebook.

Survivors included his son Stephen Lynn McCoy and daughter Donna Jean (McCoy) Brown (Randy). Two precious grandchildren William Keith Brown (Rachel) and Elizabeth Renee Brown and two precious great-grandchildren Anna Margaret Brown and William James Brown. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 13, 2023 at 11:00 am at J. C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday 9:00 am until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1:30 pm at Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, KY.
