Helen Proctor Drake, 89, of Owensboro, Kentucky died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest. She was born July 17, 1926 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Edward and Cordie Proctor. Helen was a devoted member of Crosspointe Baptist Church, and a member of the Eastern Star, Stanley Chapter 252. She was the owner and operator of Helen's Beauty Shop for more than 25 years. She was preceded in death by nine siblings.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Vinuard J. Drake; a daughter, Sheila Drake Melander (Chuck) of Owensboro; two sons, David Drake (Ava) of Owensboro and Bruce Allen Drake (Melinda) of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Melander both of Owensboro, Jack, Wade, and Johnny Bruce Drake all of Lexington, Tiffany Drake English (Joey) of Texas, Tekoa Drake Kuras (Bill) of Minnesota and James William Drake of Owensboro; and six great grandchildren.

Services are 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Crosspointe Baptist Church in Owensboro with Bro. Ferrell Isenberg officiating. Burial will be in Utica Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Crosspointe Baptist Church.
