Gordon W. Amos Jr., a cherished father, brother, and friend, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, in Morgantown, Kentucky, at the age of 32. Born on August 7, 1991, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Gordon was a man of great humor, adventure, and skill, whose presence brought light and laughter to all who knew him.
Gordon was a proud graduate of Butler County High School, Class of 2011, where he formed many lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for his future endeavors. After graduation, he pursued his passion for mechanics and became a well-respected mechanic at JT Wheel and Tire. He was a man of Christian faith, which guided him throughout his life and provided him with strength and comfort. Gordon's interests were as vast as his personality. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His adventurous spirit was also evident in his love for racing. Gordon was a familiar face at Cedar Ridge and surrounding counties' racetracks, where he competed with his signature racing number, 42 1/2. His passion for racing was only matched by his talent as a mechanic, and he often spent his time tinkering with engines and improving his race car.
Gordon's sense of humor was infectious, and he was always ready with a joke or a funny story to brighten someone's day. He was also known for his handy nature, always willing to lend a hand.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter, Margaret Fay "Maggie" Amos of Morgantown, KY, who was the light of his life. His four sisters, Sandra Geary (Mike) of Caneyville, KY, Susan Decker (Larry Wayne) of Morgantown, KY, Stacia Moore (Bert) of Central City, KY, and Stephanie Alexander (Silas) of Morgantown, KY. Gordon also shared a special bond with his dear friend Sara Asbury of Morgantown, KY, and his bonus son, Kolby Roy of Morgantown, KY; Gordon is also survived by two uncles, one aunt, several cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon W. and Edith Fay Bratcher Amos, whose values and love shaped the man he became.
