Glendal Deweese

Harold Glendal Deweese, age 87 of Morgantown, KY, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY. Born on Friday, April 2, 1937, in the Leonard Oak Community of Butler County, to the late Shirley and Myrtle Romans Deweese. Glendal, lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community.
 
Glendal's journey through life was shared with his beloved wife of 68 years, Betty Coleman Deweese. Together, they raised a family that included their daughter Diane Parker (Jeff), their son Harold Glen Deweese (Amy), and their late daughter Sharon Ann Deweese. Glendal's legacy continues through his grandchildren Chasity Moore (Greg), Ashley Willoughby (Travis), Caleb Deweese (Madison), Audrey, and Andrea Deweese, as well as his great-grandchildren Skyler, Conley, Maddox Moore, Parker Willoughby and the soon-to-arrive Hattie Deweese, all of whom reside in Morgantown, KY. His life was further enriched by the love and companionship of several nieces and nephews.
 
Other than his parents and daughter he was also Preceded in death his brothers Wallace, Robert, Alvis, and Billy Deweese, and his sisters Irene Phelps and Lorene Burden.
 
Glendal's professional life was as robust and impactful as his personal one. For 42 years, he served at Warren Rural Electric, where he held the position of district manager for several years before retiring in 2000. His commitment to public service was further demonstrated through his tenure on the Morgantown City Council from 1972 to 1996 and his involvement with the planning and zoning board starting in 1997 to present. In total, Glendal served the people of Morgantown for an impressive 52 years. His dedication to safety and service was also evident during his time as a past member of the Morgantown Fire Department.
 
A man of faith, Glendal was a member and attended the Leonard Oak Baptist Church. His leadership extended into his passions, as he was the founder and president of the Butler County Saddle Club, where he shared his love for riding horses with others. Glendal's interests were a reflection of his character. He found joy in fellowshipping at The Farmboy Restaurant, where his presence was a source of warmth and wisdom, riding horses and horse shows. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, creating memories that they will hold dear for a lifetime.
 
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 12:00pm with Bro. Joe Pharris officiating. Burial will be in the Hill Haven Memory Gardens where Caleb Deweese, Jeff Parker, Travis Willoughby, Jake McKee, Will Embry. Maddox, Skyler and Greg Moore will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm and Thursday 8:00am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
