Gilbert R. Thomason, age 77 of Morgantown, KY, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Born on Saturday, September 20, 1947, in Butler County, Kentucky, Gilbert's life was a tapestry of dedication to his family, work, and community.

Gilbert's early years in Butler County laid the foundation for a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of creating with his hands. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Herbert and Nancy Parlee Moss Thomason, his sisters Martha Irene Hester, Virginia Bernadine Haynes, Alta Lillian Conley, and his brothers Archie Kenneth Thomason and James Russell Thomason.

The love of his life, Sheila Graham of Morgantown, KY, survives him, along with his son Terry Thomason and his wife Tabby of Morgantown, KY. Gilbert's legacy continues through his granddaughters, Darian Thomason of Maryland and Maddy Cessna and her family of Morgantown, KY. He also leaves behind Sheila's children, Devon Graham of Morgantown, KY, and Dustin Graham and his wife Livette DeSousa of Georgia. His life was further enriched by the presence of his five siblings, Doris Wallace of Bowling Green, KY, Frances Oberhausen of Morgantown, KY, Betty Odell of Richelieu, KY, Leslie Thomason(Polly) of Richelieu, KY, and Vicky Price (Bobby) of Auburn, KY, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gilbert's professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. He was a operator at Holley for 31 years and later contributed his skills to Phillip Hazel for 12 years. His commitment to his work was only matched by his devotion to his faith as a member of the New Gasper Baptist Church. Outside of work, Gilbert was a man of many interests. His love for mowing, woodworking projects, puzzles, gardening, and flowers showcased his creative spirit and his connection to the earth. His love for animals was evident to all who knew him. Gilbert was always a Busy Man. 

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 12:00pm with Bro. Gary Oberhausen officiating. Burial will be in the George H. Orange Cemetery where his family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
