Gil H. Mitchell, 74, of Morgantown, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the Morgantown Care & Rehab. Gil was born February 16, 1944, in Dexterville, Kentucky to the late Clarence and Falsom Evans Mitchell and husband of the late Jane Harper Mitchell. He was a United States Army Veteran, coal miner and retired Butler County deputy jailer, member of Banock Masonic Lodge #824 and of the Baptist faith. Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one sister Fiona Sue Taylor.

Gil H. Mitchell is survived by one daughter Rhoda Chism and husband JD of Morgantown, KY; one son Eric Mitchell and wife Jennifer of Colorado; three granddaughters Danielle Mitchell, Miranda Heiser and Lauren Chism; three grandsons Joshua Mitchell, Craig Heiser and Trenton Chism; four great-grandchildren; two brothers Bobby Casey and wife Rachel of Crestwood, KY and Tyrone Mitchell and wife Carolyn of Louisville, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 11:00 am with Bro. Roger Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, April 6, 2018, from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm with Masonic services conducted by Banock Masonic Lodge #824 at 6:00 pm. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, from 8:00 am until funeral time at 11:00 am at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
