Gerald Steven Coomes, 73, of Rochester, Ky, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at his residence. Gerald was born September 9, 1947 in Henderson, Ky to the late Joseph Dorval and Jeanelle Ware Coomes. He was one of the founders of Morgantown Plastics, later changed to Delta Faucet, retiring after 25 years. Gerald was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Morgantown, Ky and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Other than his parents Gerald is preceded in death by his grandparents, Engram and Robbie Coomes and mother-in-law, Lois Wilkerson.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Coomes, of Rochester, Ky, four children: Robert Coomes (Kathy) of Rochester, Ky, Marie Eblen (Bart) of Robards, Ky, Jeff Coomes (Lisa) of Morgantown, Ky and Jennifer Cardwell (Dennis) of Morgantown, Ky, 9 grandchildren: Daniella Coomes, of Evansville, IN, Adam Coomes (Ashley) of Richmond, Ky, Jon Paul Eblen (Kristin) of Robards, Ky, Jacob Eblen of Robards, Ky, Abby Coomes of Morgantown, Ky, Braxton Coomes of Morgantown, Ky, Haleigh Burton (Nathan) of Morgantown, Ky, Heath Cardwell of Morgantown, Ky and Harlee Cardwell of Morgantown, Ky, 5 great-grandchildren: Zander, Zoey, Levi, Vann and Avery, 9 siblings: Mike Coomes (Judy) of Henderson, Ky, Eddie Coomes (Donna) of Henderson, Ky, Ricky Coomes of Henderson, Ky, Raymond Coomes (Theresa) of Henderson Ky, Anne Klaffer of Henderson, Ky, Mary Schinault of Henderson, Ky, Regina Bennett of Iowa, Nancy Ritter (Rudy) of Henderson, Ky and Sister Alicia Coomes of Mt. St. Joseph, Ky and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 12:00 PM at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Henderson, Ky with Father Julio Barrera and Father Larry McBride officiating, with burial to follow at the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Henderson, Ky, with Jon Paul Eblen, Adam Coomes, Braxton Coomes, Heath Cardwell, Jacob Eblen and Ted Seiler serving as pallbearers and Dennis Cardwell and Bart Eblen serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held Monday, June 21, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Chapel with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM., and Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home in Henderson, Ky and Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.
