Geneva Bernice Tines
Geneva Bernice Tines, 96 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Friday October 30, 2015 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab. Geneva was born on Saturday February 15, 1919 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Justice and Otha Baxter Baucum and wife of the late Alton Tines. Ms. Geneva was born on the family farm and grew up working in the fields and doing chores around the home place. She had some difficulty turning the breaking plow at the end of the fields, but was able to help her father where she was needed .Her father always preferred life on the farm over public work and spent his working life on the family farm he carved out of the hills of Dunbar. The entire family were avid gardeners and Mr. Baucum, Ms Geneva's father, showed a deep respect for the land he tilled. Miss Geneva married Alton Tines in 1937 at the age of eighteen to begin a new phase of her life. She always wanted a daughter, but had to settle for four boys. The family moved to Morgantown, in 1960. Ms Geneva worked in a variety of service jobs and sewing factories to help support her family. She was a member of Big Mddy Baptist Church and other than her parents and husband she is preceded in death by three sons William Harold Tines, Larry James Tines and Ronald Wayne Tines; two sisters Jane Baxter and Loetta Tines and one brother Bill Baucum.
Geneva Bernice Tines is survived by one son Leslie Paul Tines wife Helen of South Williamsport Pennsylvania; two daughter in laws Linda Faye Tines and Stella Barrow both of Morgantown, Ky.; one sister Betty Sears of Louisville, Ky.; 7 grandchildren Tonna Fuston husband Ricky, Todd Tines, Shelby Engel, Deborah Montoro, Deanna Jenkins husband Chelcey, Jon Tines wife April and Wendy Swift husband Kenny; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Sunday November 1, 2015 at 2:00pm with Bro. Ronnie Forest officiating. Burial will be in the Big Muddy Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday October 31, 2015 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm and Sunday 10:00am until funeral time at 2:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
