Gene Butters

Gene Butters, age 90, of Morgantown, KY, formerly of Princeton, KY, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020 at his home.

He was a former employee of Albequerque National Bank in New Mexico, former President of First Bank & Trust in Princeton and Morgantown Bank & Trust in Morgantown, where he retired. Gene was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Rizpah Shriners, Corvette City BOP Club and Princeton Elks Lodge where he served as Past-President of the Elks Association, National Treasurer of the Grand Elks Lodge. He also served as the President of the Chamber of Commerce, member of the Industrial Foundation, and chairman of the Airport Board. Gene served during the Korean War in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Mark) Dutton of Chattanooga, TN, Suzanne (Bruce) Fraliex of Nashville, TN; son, Jeffrey (Sheila) Butters of Lebanon, TN; two sisters, Lois Kelly of Tampa, FL, Geraldine Green of North Vernon, IN.; four grandchildren, Andrew Dutton, Daniel Dutton, Keith Butters, Jennifer Butters; three great grandchildren; mother of his children, Kay Foster Towery; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Augustus Butters and Emma Johnson Butters; two sisters, Joan Burchfield and Eliza Fouts.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 11:00 AM until funeral service time at 1:00 PM at Morgan's Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Sivells officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, IN at 2:00 PM EST with his nephew, Pastor Don Green of Cincinnati, OH, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gene's memory to the Elks National Foundation, 2750 North Lakeview Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614-2256.
