Fiscal Court: Rural Secondary Road Program

Butler County Fiscal Court met on Monday, March 13th at the Butler County Courthouse with all five magistrates in attendance. With no old business on the agenda, the court heard from Tim Sharp of the Kentucky Transportation Department-Secondary Rural Program.  Joe Plunk, Justin Young, Mark Welch of the Transportation Department and Logan Lawrence (WKU student) was also in attendance. According to Sharp, Butler County has a total of $1,536,732.00 available for rural secondary roads. 

The budget is broken down to the following:

  • Routine maintenance on 139.3 miles of rural secondary roads @ $3,360.37 per mile = $468,100
  • Flex funds for projects = $188,689
  • Resurface KY 626 Berry's Lick Road from KY 1153 to KY 79 = $324,850
  • Culvert replacement on KY 411 Love Lee Road = $64,900
  • Drainage enhancements and resurface KY 2266 Millshed Road to Ky 1328 =$229,248
  • Drainage enhancements and resurface KY 340 Brooklyn Road to KY 79 = $230,150
  • Install guardrail on bridge ends on KY 3182 Richland Church Road = $40,100

The court asked County Attorney Dick Deye to clarify the fire dues ordinance coverage span. Several residents have received dues reminders from individual fire districts and the dues will also appear on the 2017 tax bills. 
In other business the court approved the following by a 5-0 vote on each item:

  • Bills and transfers
  • Monthly treasurer's report
  • Transfer from General Fund to Jail Fund $30,000
  • Transfer from General Fund to Road Fund $21,788.87 FEMA
