Eva Jean Smith, 88, of Rochester, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Morgantown Care & Rehabilitation Center. Eva Jean was born March 19, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Eva Herron Staples. She was the wife of the late Tommy Combs and B. Smith, was a member of Rochester Missionary Baptist Church, and was retired from General Electric. Eva Jean was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee and A.D. Staples.

Eva Jean Smith is survived by one niece, Phyllis Scott of Louisville, KY; one sister-in-law, Jean Staples of Texas; one step-son, Danny Smith and wife Charlesetta of Drakesboro, KY; step-grandson, Dewayne Fleming and wife Gina of Rochester, KY; three step-great-granddaughters, and one step-great-great grandchild. Extended family members include Geneva and Don Davis of Morgantown, KY; Geneva, whom she called her daughter; granddaughter Melanie Wester of Morgantown, KY; grandson Jonathan Wester and Megan of Rochester, KY; great-grandson Caleb Wester of Morgantown, KY, and many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Roger Heltsley officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery. Visitation is Friday October 4, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
