Eva Iris Smith Forsythe

Eva Iris Smith Forsythe age 91 of Morgantown Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Hospice House in Bowling Green Ky. Eva was born on August 13, 1921, to the late Girlie Lee and Dewey Mae Ingram Smith. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and gave many years of service as a teacher,leader of women, and youth. She served many years as the president of the Relief Society, the women's organization, both locally and in the Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia area. She lived a beautiful full life of creativity, love, and service. Eva taught at a one room school early in her life and she later earned her degree in Mathematics from Western Kentucky University and taught at Butler County High School.She and her husband Joe also opened a skating rink together in the late 50's behind the former Flener's Restaurant and Hotel. Eva and Joe had celebrated 71 years of marriage and enjoyed traveling and seeing this beautiful country and world of ours. Eva loved her family and her poodles. She was also preceded in death by 1 grandson Matthew Burgi and 2 sisters Pauline Smith and Margie Vance.
Eva Iris Smith Forsythe is survived by her husband Joe, 2 daughters Sheilia Roberts and husband JoeVan of Beaver Dam Ky., and Darlene Burgi of Orem Utah, 1 sister Erdine Johnson and husband Ross of Bowling Green Ky., 1 brother Dewey Lee Smith Sr. and wife Helen of Morgantown Ky. 1 granddaughter Tina Burgi Smith, 9 grandsons Van, Stan, Mark, and David Roberts, Steve, Scott, Richard, Paul, and Beau Burgi, 28 Great Grandchildren with 2 more expected in January.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with burial in the Dan Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 from 4:00pm till 8:00 pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel and on December 27, 2012 from 11:00 am till funeral time at 1:00 pm at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
