Etta Mae Newton, 72 of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab. Etta was born Sunda, March 1, 1942 in Meade County Kentucky to the late Ernest Horton and Wanda Kendell Thompson and wife of the late James P. "Jimmy" Newton. She was a member of Temple Hill General Baptist Church and owner and operator of Howards Bakery. Other than her parents and husband she is preceded in death by one daughter Rita Newton and two brothers Jimmy Horton and Eugene Horton.
Etta Mae Newton is survived by three sons Terry Johnson and wife Linda of Morgantown, Ky., Cleatus Johnson of Morgantown, Ky. and Wayne Newton and companion April of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter Eurana Horton of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers Richard Thompson and wife Mary of Louisville, Ky., and David Horton of Florida; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; 3 step children Tony, Chris and Shannon and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 11:00am with Bro. Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will be in the St Joseph Cemetery in Bardstown, Kentucky. Visitation Saturday June 21, 2014 from 11:00am - 8:00pm and Sunday 9:00am until funeral time at 11:00am at the Jones Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.jonesfuneralchapel.com
