Ernest Cardwell, 71, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on July 24, 1946 to the late Kenneth Edgar and Exie Marie McKinney Cardwell.  Mr. Cardwell retired from Ford Motor Company. He served in the United States Army. was a member of the VFW Post 5837, UAW and enjoyed old cars.   He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Eddie Cardwell and sister Wilma Cardwell Burns.

Mr. Cardwell is survived by three sons Dion Cardwell and wife Traci of Corsicana, TX., Jason Cardwell of Morgantown and Kyle Cardwell of Calif.; three grandchildren Jerrica Cockrell of Morgantown, Brooke M. Cardwell and Michael Kyle Cardwell Jr.  of CA.; five sisters Anna Annis of Bowling Green, Tish Webb of Morgantown, Norma Embry and husband Kenneth of Caneyville, Wanda Elmore of Russellville, Phyllis Nelson and husband David of Warner Robins, GA., and Teresa Hines of Bowling Green; brothers Richard Cardwell of Raleigh, NC. and Stephen (Bo) Cardwell of Morgantown; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at 1pm with Bro. Gary Embry officiating. Burial will follow in the Hill Haven Memory Garden Cemetery with Military honors by Am Vets Post #117. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 from 5pm-8pm and Wednesday 8am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home, Morgantown, Ky.
