Erlene (Ellis) Farris

Erlene (Ellis) Farris, 95, of Morgantown, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab. Erlene was born on Tuesday, October 23, 1928, in Woodbury, Kentucky, to the late Alfred Roscoe and Sabie Sublett Ellis.

A proud life-long resident of Butler County, Erlene lived her life with grace, energy, and style. She retired from General Electric, where her dedication and strong work ethic left a lasting impression. Outside of work, she was known for her passion for dancing and could be found every weekend on the dance floor, enjoying life to the fullest. She was an exceptional dancer, a talent she shared with her many friends.

You could often find her at the Farm Boy, sitting at the front table, welcoming friends and neighbors alike. She was admired for her impeccable appearance, always dressing beautifully with her hair and nails perfectly done. She lived a full life, witnessing and experiencing so much over the years, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, friendship, and love.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her twin brother, Joseph Earl “Bill” Ellis, and her sister Margaret Elizabeth Lasley.

Erlene is survived by her children, Helen Gaskey (Bobby) and David Austin (Rebecca); her granddaughters April Gaskey (Luke) and Brittany Austin (Cole); her great-grandson Kyser and great-granddaughters Charli and Ruby; special nephew Joseph Earl “Jody” Ellis Jr. (Ann), niece Marsha Ellis Forshee (Jim) and nephew Ricky Ellis (Lisa) as well as several other nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was loved and will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

Funeral services will be held at Jones Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 10:00am with David Hocker officiating. Burial will be in the Cook Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 4:30 pm - 7:00pm and Wednesday from 8:00am until funeral time at the Jones Funeral Chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Butler County Cancer Assistance P.O.
