Ella Evalee Mefford Askew, 90, of  Nashville, Tn., formerly of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at  Woodcrest at the Blakeford, Nashville, Tn.  She was born in Huntsville, Ky. on March 29, 1926 to the late Buley and Ella Wood Mefford.  She worked at Kanes Manufacturing in Morgantown, taught school at Huntsville, babysat and was a homemaker.  Evalee was a member of the Morgantown Church of Christ, enjoyed sewing, quilting. gardening and spending time with family, especially her grandsons.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Askew; son Lloyd Lee Askew; brother Denzil Mefford and sister Duprey Benton.

Ms. Askew is survived by her daughter Kathy Bates (Terry) of Nashville, Tn.; two grandsons Brady Bates, Jordan Bates both of Nashville, Tn.; two sisters Wanda Smith of Cincinnati, Oh., Peggy Head of Frankfort, Ky.; daughter-in-law Barbara Askew of Hendersonville, Tn.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Bro. Daniel Askew officiating.  Burial will follow in the Quality/Forgytown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 12:30 until time of service at Smith Funeral Home, Morgantown, Ky.
