Edith “Pauline” Mefford

Edith “Pauline” Mefford, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Saturday, January 30, 2021. She was born in Ohio County, KY to Garve and Flories Beliles on February 5, 1922. She was the oldest child of nine living children. Pauline was very proud of having attended The Old Boston High School in Bulter Co., KY. She married Homer “Coley’ Mefford. They raised six children together while crisscrossing the US due to Coley’s military service. Pauline enjoyed travelling on the Greyhound bus to visit her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a great cook and avid reader. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catolic Church in Morgantown and before that, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Russellville.

She is preceded in death by her infant brother, Thomas, her sisters, Eva Nell Philpott, Dorothy Rubino and Betty Grise, her parents and her sons, Bobby Ray, James Roger, and Billy Clay Mefford. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Macomber, Jan Northern and Pat Scandrani. Also surviving her are her sisters, Nancy June Syfert, Marcie Howard, Sandy Burden and brothers, Tracy Beliles and Terry Beliles.

Pauline retired from Emerson Electric Company in Russellville where she lived for many years and Morgantown, KY. Before moving to live with her daughter Pat in Versailles, KY. She was a member of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor honoring her late husband's time of service as a Japanese POW in WWII.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators. Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at ClarkLegacyCenter.com
