Eddie Beck

Eddie Lee Beck of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on April 20,2024, with his loving wife, Glenda, by his side. Eddie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend. To all who knew him, he was the epitome of a Southern Gentleman.

Eddie was born January 11,1941, in Possom Holler, Butler County, Kentucky. As a six year old boy, he walked five miles each way, with Zorethel Wallace, to Aberdeen, where he attended a one room school. In the third grade, he moved to Morgantown Elementary. Miss Shirley Morris was his teacher. She disciplined him once by hitting him over the head with a book. As a teenager, Eddie worked at Dink McKinney‘s truckstop in Aberdeen.

 Every summer he lived with his grandfather, Pap DeWeese, in indianapolis Indiana , where he worked in a grocery store. There was a swimming pool near the house where a bully held him underwater - he never liked swimming after that . At age 17 he developed Osteomyelitis, which caused him to miss a year of school. He bought a 55 Chevy and attended Butler County high school where he was voted most sophisticated, served on the yearbook staff, and was a star basketball player – Glenda had a crush on him then.

After being one of the infamous members of the senior trip to Florida , which ended all future class trips, Eddie Graduated in 1960.

Eddie attended Western Kentucky State College , where he lived in a rooming house with Bill and Kay Hampton. Larry Hunt and Titus Lyle were his roommates.

Eddie had a lifelong love for vintage cars and enjoyed collecting and restoring them.

He met Jackie Mercer in indianapolis. They married in 1962 and bought a small house off Morgantown Road in Bowling Green.

Eddie was employed at Bowling Green Municipal Utilities for 32 years, where he served as General Manager for 17 years. He was elected Magistrate of Warren County District three where he served for eight years. He was devoted to his service there and enjoyed his relationship with the other Magistrates and judge Michael Buchanan.

Eddie was patriotic with a firm belief in community service . He served on numerous civic committees including: president of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, the Lost River Cave Board, the Boys and Girls Club, the JayCees‘s, the Kiwanis Club, and several others. He was honored by Kentucky Leadership in 1987.

Eddie and Jackie (deceased)are survived by three children; Steve Beck, (Cheryl) of Bowling Green; Nicky Corder (Keith) ,Of Indianapolis, and Jason Beck (Jamie)of Bowling Green; their grandchildren, Heather Davis (Jason), Katelyn Beck, Ashley Day (Alex), Elizabeth Orr (Cale), and Kannon Beck. Several great Grandchildren. His brother Jerry Beck, and sister, Karen Beck Moore.

Eddie married Glenda Rollins, August 18, 2008 in Provo, Utah, and is survived by: Craig ( Chantel) Rollins, Dawna (Alan) Daigneault , Rachel (Todd), Amanda, Tina, and Kent (Tempest) Rollins. 10 grandchildren: Conor Rollins, Madison (Ken) Holdaway, Nyle and Pete Grigsby, Haven, Olivia and Zander Armstrong, Lauren (Aaron) Slinker, Kierra Hillman, and Halle.

A faithful Christian, he attended church with his mom and dad at Aberdeen Baptist and Church of Christ. Eddie was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints. He was a devoted follower of Christ all his life.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel in Bowling Green. Visitation is Friday April 26 from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Eddie will be laid to rest April 27 in the Daniel Boone Johnson Cemetery, Morgantown, Kentucky.

The family would like to express heartfelt love and appreciation to those who helped with Eddie. The best caregivers in the world.
