Earlene E. Sharer Dixon

Earlene E. Sharer Dixon, 99, of Bowling Green passed away June 29, 2019 at Colonial Center.

The Sharer, Kentucky (Butler County) native was born November 23, 1919 to the late Lannie and Ancie Johnson Sharer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William A. Dixon; daughter, Janet Legge; sister, Alice Faye Sharer; brothers, Willard, Glenn, J.C., Jr., and Carlisle Sharer; and grandson, Jeff Legge. Earlene worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II helping build warplanes. She graduated from Richardsville High School and Bowling Green Business University and worked in insurance. At age 73, after the death of her husband, she got her driver’s license for the first time. Earlene was a wonderful mother and grandmother to any child that came into her life.

Survivors include her son, James A. Dixon of Richardsville; grandchildren, Steven Dixon and Telisa Phelps; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with visitation from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday all at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway chapel. Burial will take place next to her husband at Fairview Cemetery.
