Dyke McKinney

Dyke McKinney, 86, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on April 2, 1932  to the late Mondie and Louise Kitchens McKinney.  He was a member of the First Apostolic Church, was the unofficial mayor of Dunbar, a proud Democrat, most of all a loving Papaw.  He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and UK basketball.  Dyke is preceded in death by his parents; son Randy Flener; sister Virginia McCoy; brothers Billy Ray, Royce and William T. McKinney.

 

Dyke will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 51 years, Lucy McKinney of Morgantown; son Patrick Flener and daughter Sandra McKinney (Jonathan) both of Morgantown; daughter- in-law Janetta of Elizabethtown, Illinois ; grandchildren Brandy Cook (Stuart), Shawna Flener (Erik), Lindsey Boyle (Jaleel), Maggie Martin (Cameron), Amber McKinney (DJ), Matthew Flener and Ryder Flener;  great grandchildren Clayton Martin, Susan Renfrow and Emma Cook; sister Mardell Deweese; brothers JB and Laymon McKinney (Betty); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Neighbors and Bro. Jerry Bratcher officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sandy Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Monday, Dec. 10 from 5pm-8pm and Tuesday 8am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
