Dwight David Lee
Dwight David Lee, known as David to his friends and family, passed away on November 3, 2024, at his home in Morgantown, Kentucky, surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Butler County, Kentucky, on September 2, 1955, David's life journey was marked by his intelligence, wisdom, and a selfless spirit that left an indelible impact on those fortunate enough to know him.
David took great pride in his work and professional achievements. After a fulfilling career, he retired as Superintendent from Armstrong Coal Equality Mine, imparting his deep knowledge and unwavering dedication to every task at hand. His commitment extended beyond his professional endeavors as he actively participated in the West Kentucky Coal Association. A supporter of both the National Rifle Association and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
In leisure, David was an avid outdoorsman. He found solace and joy in the quietude of nature, whether he was waiting for the perfect shot during hunting season or casting a line into the serene waters on a fishing trip. These moments connected him to the earth and filled him with a sense of peace that he cherished profoundly.
He is celebrated and cherished by his loving family, including his two daughters, Brandy Lee of Morgantown, KY, and Amy Lee of Morgantown, KY. His legacy continues through the lives of his four grandchildren, Hannah Felty of Evansville, IN, Weston Goodall, Gage Lee, and Layla Dockery, all of Morgantown, KY. David was also a devoted figure to his two step-children, Lauren Chambers of Brownsville, KY, and Scott Mauzey of Morgantown, KY. He will be fondly remembered by his mother-in-law, Ruby Mae Shields of Morgantown, KY and his brother, Larry Parker of Murfeesboro, TN. His close-knit family extends to his sisters-in-law, Janice Coy (Shannon) of Morgantown, KY and Donna Wilson (Bobby) of Morgantown, KY, brother-in-law Brad Renfrow (Melissa) of Morgantown, KY, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his guiding presence.
Transitioning before him was his beloved wife, Cynthia Jo "Cindy" Lee, who was a beacon of love and partnership throughout their journey together. Additionally, his late parents, Cloy "Stoker" and Louise C. Cardwell Lee, as well as his siblings, Phillip, Ricky, Donnie, Ronnie, Gary Lee, Susie Williams, and Marilyn Lee have been reunited with him in eternal rest.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bobby Hatcher and Bro. David Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery where Scott Mauzey, Gage Lee, Westin Goodall, Brad Renfrow, Wally Taylor, Kenny Lee, Paul Lee and Amy Lee will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Friday, November 8, 2024 from 8:00am until funeral time at 12:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
