Doris Lee Applin Belcher, 87, of Sugar Grove, Ky. passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at her residence.  Doris was born July 22, 1926 in Butler County, to the late John and Evelyn Lee Applin.  She was a member of Sugar Grove Methodist Church, Garden Club and the Midway Homemakers Club.  She was a homemaker and a seamstress and enjoyed taking care of her flowers and sewing, quilting and crocheting.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Thornton Rudolph Belcher, her parents John and Evelyn Applin, one son Gary Belcher and a brother Richard Applin.
 
She  is survived by one son Kenneth Belcher of Griffin, GA; one daughter Evonne Mercer of Sugar Grove; one sister Milinda Carson and husband Marvin of Bowling Green; six grandchildren:  Michelle Ewing and husband Shawn of Bowling Green, Melissa Heaton and husband Warren of Los Angeles CA, Chad Belcher of Conway, AR, Marsha Mercer of Louisville, Amy Koury and husband Walker of Hawaii and Garrett Belcher and wife Katie of High Falls, GA; seven great grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. with Bro. Marvin Carson and Bro. Gene Hadden officiating . Burial will follow in Hill Haven Memory Gardens Cemetery.   Visitation will be Monday , June 23, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 pm and Tuesday 8 am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
