David H. Gambrel passed away, Sunday, February 14, 2016.

Beloved Husband for 53 years of Barbara L. Gambrel (nee Daugherty). Devoted Father of Robert Gambrel, Christiann (Michael) Smallwood and Russell Gambrel. Adored Grandfather of Michael Stanfill, Sara, Owen and Wyatt Smallwood, Kelly Jack and Julian Gambrel. Dear brother of Tommy Gambrel. Dear Uncle and friend to many.

David retired from Peabody Coal after 25 years. He contributed to Coal Age Magazine and other coal related publications. David was an avid golfer, travel enthusiast, artist, and a passionate and active member of Ballwin Baptist Church. He was a devout guardian of his family.

Services: Funeral service at Ballwin Baptist Church, 15101 Manchester Rd., Ballwin, Friday, 1:00 p.m. Interment New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Gilstrap, KY at 2 pm on Saturday, Feb. 20. If desired, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Visitation at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Rd. at Holloway, Ballwin, Thursday 4-8 p.m. Friends may sign the family’s on-line guest book at Schrader.com.
