Darrel Neal Jones
Darrel Neal Jones, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at his residence in Morgantown, KY, on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on Tuesday, March 25, 1947, in Daviess County, KY, Darrel's life was a testament to the values of love, faith, and hard work that he held dear.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Abbie Douglas Jones, his brothers Mike Marsh and Ronnie Jones, and his sisters Connie Cain and Nancy Jones. His legacy of love and dedication lives on through his beloved wife of 53 years, Alice Gray Fluharty Jones, whom he married on June 5, 1971. Together, they built a life filled with joy and purpose.
A devoted father, Darrel is survived by his son, Stanley Ray Jones and his wife CaSandra, and his daughter, Margie Louise Findley and her husband Denley. His six grandchildren, MaLeigha, MaKenzie, MaKayla Jones, and Breydn, Levi, and Kyler Findley, all of Morgantown, KY, will forever cherish the memories of their grandfather's unwavering support and the countless hours he spent watching them play sports and grow into young adults. Darrel's loving family also includes his brothers Odean Jones of Conroe, TX, and Danny Jones of Rochester, KY; his sisters Doris Woosley and her husband Ronald of Caneyville, KY, and Gail Berry and her husband Rick of Owensboro, KY; his half-sister Sandy Carlisle and her husband Steve of Bowling Green, KY; his sister-in-law Doris Marsh of Owensboro, KY; his brother-in-law Charles Cain of Clarkson, KY; and numerous nieces, nephews, and his extended family.
A man of faith, Darrel attended Barnett's Lick Baptist Church. His professional life was marked by his role as a skilled automotive technician and the proud owner of Darrel Jones Garage until his retirement and a farmer.
Darrel's interests were a reflection of his character. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, and there was no greater joy for him than watching his grandchildren's sporting events. A fan of UK Basketball, Darrel was always ready to lend a helping hand, fix anything that needed repair, and offer his wisdom and support to those around him. His love for farming and the simple pleasure of driving around the countryside were sources of great contentment. Those who knew Darrel would describe him as loving, faith-filled, and handy. Darrel's life was a living example of his values, and his impact on those he touched will be felt for generations to come.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 1:00pm with Bro. Buster Jordan, Bro. Gene Garner, Bro. Jewel Martin and Bro. Denley Findley officiating. Burial will be in the Isiah Evans Cemetery where Tom Cain, Eugene Cain, Breydn, Levi and Kyler Findley, Todd Lawrence, Jeff Whittinghill and Randy Bratcher will serve as pallbearers, serving as honorary pallbearers Charles Cain and Doug Lindsey. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 2:00pm - 7:00pm and Saturday 8:00am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
