Collins Layton Bryant

Collins Layton Bryant, known fondly as Layton by friends and family, passed away peacefully on the 3rd of March, 2025, in Leitchfield, Kentucky, at the age of 87. Born in Butler County, KY on the 9th of September, 1937, Layton lived a life rich in faith, ingenuity, and love.

Layton Bryant will be deeply missed by his loving family, survived by his daughter Shelia Bryant of Casey, KY; his son Ken Bryant (Judy) of Lewisburg, KY; his grandchildren, Dillon Bryant of Morgantown, KY and Lorna Tipton (Christian) of Morgantown, KY. His son-in-law, Lonnie Tipton, also of Morgantown, KY, Layton's siblings, Mary Goodwin of Louisville, KY, Lowell Bryant (Delphine) of Morgantown, KY, and Joyce Annis (David) of Logansport, KY, and his special companion, Janetta Embry of Louisville, KY, along with several nieces and nephews, will hold Layton's spirit close in their hearts. His journey preceded by his parents, Collins and Ruby Woosley Bryant, his daughter Kimberly Bryant Tipton, and siblings Doris M. Bryant, Frances Embry and Gladys Lawrence, Layton now reunites with them in eternal peace.

Throughout his life, Layton was a beacon of steadfast faith and community as an active member of Caneyville Church of Christ. His service to his country through the Kentucky Army National Guard was a period of his life marked by honor and dedication. After his military service, he became a well-respected mechanic at Tichenor's Automotive in Hartford, KY, where his expertise was sought after for many years.

Layton's heart belonged to the land and the family farm he proudly owned and labored on throughout his life - the same farm he was born on. His tireless hands were rarely still, as he found joy in farming, gardening, hunting, and turning the wheels and wrenches of his mechanic trade. As a man of many talents, Layton was also recognized as an inventive problem-solver, and an inspiring jack of all trades.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel with Bro. Caleb Smithson and Bro Nick Greenman officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery where Lonnie Tipton, Luther Tipton, Brian McKinney, Christian Hardin, Kenny Bryant and Richard Embry will Serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 8:00am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
